ReaCut
Category: Desktop & productivity apps · Type: Reconstruction

An independently implemented open-source desktop video editor informed by REA-assisted research into Jianying / CapCut interface behavior and local project formats, with multitrack editing, subtitles, local export and experimental draft import.
Relationship
Author documents REA use
Evidence scope
The README states the project uses REA to study Jianying interface behavior and local project formats, then independently implements an editor with Electron, React, TypeScript and FFmpeg. REA, Ghidra and Jianying are not runtime dependencies. Linked research and interoperability docs describe authorized-scope research; this listing does not claim proprietary code or asset copying, nor full CapCut/Jianying parity.
Know before you try
macOS Apple Silicon is the verified path; Windows/Linux binaries are not provided. Preview builds are ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. Experimental Jianying draft import is lossy (effects, keyframes and complex styles may be lost) and does not write back. Cloud sync, SaaS and AI portrait features are not implemented. We have not installed, run or audited it beyond public README/docs review.
Status
v0.6.0 preview; early development
License
MIT (own code)
Bundled FFmpeg / x264 use GPL; Noto Sans SC uses SIL OFL 1.1. See upstream third-party notices. Independent project; not affiliated with Jianying / CapCut.
